Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the ‘grammest of them all?

Instagram, with its celebration of breathtaking imagery and self-expression, seems custom-made for the beauty world. The perfect channel for Beauty Brands!

With 800 million active users in 2018, there is no denying that Instagram is a well-loved social network!

The strategy, style, and tone of your Instagram account should be unique to your brand and customers. It’s more than a close-up of a model’s face, or a glossy product shot. Increasing your number of Instagram followers can attract more visitors to your website or blog, bring in more sales for your business, and create a stronger community for your brand.

Below you can read 7 tips that will help you grow your Instagram account!

A Curated and Consistent Instagram Aesthetic

Your future followers want to know exactly what to expect when they follow you, so be consistent and take the time to plan out the look of your Instagram feed before you post.

Introduce Your Brand Through Stories Highlights ikim-1

The new Instagram Stories Highlights feature is perfect for introducing your potential followers to what you’re all about! Think of each highlight as a movie trailer for your business, products, or services.

Highlights give you the opportunity to court new followers with your best content. Plus, by utilising the Instagram Highlights feature you can even make sales straight from your profile from people who aren’t even following you!

Eye-Catching Instagram Bio Screen Shot 2018-04-25 at 21.55.22

Bios tend to be one of the most under-utilised Instagram features, but they’re so important! It’s hard to come up with the perfect description for what you do and why people should follow you.

Instead of making your bio all about you, try to focus on your target audience and how your Instagram profile can help or inspire them! Make sure you have a clear call-to-action in your bio, whether it’s a link to your online shop, an email subscription, or tickets to your event.

Hack Your Instagram Stories

2018 is a huge year for Instagram Stories, and as organic reach drops for regular Instagram posts, stories will be the key to engaging with your followers and staying top of mind.

Instagram Stories appear on the Instagram explore page, which means that people who don’t even follow you can still find and watch your stories. Your story can also appear in the stories for different locations and hashtags.

Use the Right Hashtags

Hashtags are an effective way of getting more eyeballs on your content and gaining more followers. If you’re using the same 30 hashtags over and over, however, Instagram will mark this as “spammy” behaviour.

Instead, choose hashtags with a purpose. Don’t tag posts with general hashtags like #love or #happy. Try hashtags that describe your business, the purpose of your account, your target market, and location.

Get Featured

Spend some time trying to promote your Instagram account in other online places. When people see or hear about your brand, they could look you up on Instagram before searching your name on Google.

To Get Featured:

  • Do a podcast interview
  • Guest post on someone else’s blog
  • Collaborate with other brands
  • Mention your Instagram account in blog posts
  • Add Instagram feed to your website/blog
  • Include Instagram profile links in Newsletter campaigns

Boost Posts to a New Audience IMG_3501-523x1024-1

Instagram ads may not be as popular as Facebook ads, but with organic reach declining on Instagram you have to start investing in them.

Creating Instagram ads isn’t complicated. All you have to do is create an Instagram post like your normally do and then hit the “promote” button once it’s posted.

Best Practises:

  • Use ‘Similar Audience’
  • Objective: Profile Visits
  • Add a Call-to-Action Button

Your Instagram post then appears in the feed like normal, the only difference being the “sponsored” notation at the top and the call-to-action button.
